Cultural Immigration
For those born in Shanghai, the fusion of cultures is never strange. Whenever I go back there, I enjoy wandering among the different parts of the city and observing that the buildings from Eastern and Western cultures are on both sides of the same street. In 2019, when I first arrived in the US and started my college life, I was surprised to see Chinatowns there. I was interested in seeing the buildings, characters, and traditional decorations that I had seen for 18 years appear in places far from my country. I wanted to dig into history to see how the two cultures immigrated and study the patterns, fabrics, and silhouettes of the clothes in that era, and develop this collection.
